Product Update
Dear Elpas Partner,
While Elpas has recently introduced a number of exciting new products, in an effort to simplify our line, improve quality and shorten delivery times, certain items have been discontinued.
This announcement serves as an official notification that Elpas is retiring the following products (see Table 1 below) effective immediately or after supplies are depleted.
- Two products (5-TBA00433, 5-WIF00485) have been temporarily discontinued due to the need to redesign a plastic part. A separate announcement will be provided when production of these products is resumed.
- The 5-PIR00433 and 5-MAG00433 have been discontinued due to low demand plus shortage of parts. Wired PIR detectors and reed switches may be purchased directly from other suppliers and wired to an Elpas 5-TBA00433-1 Wireless Input.
- Regarding the LF Field Meter 5-LFM00125, please see the separate announcement about our new LF Meter app and tag.
- Long range antennae and cable may be ordered directly from their manufacturer. Links to their web site are provided below.
Elpas shall honor all its warranty obligations. In the event that any of the products below have been shipped with a defect and is under warranty, Elpas will provide a credit based on its alternate product.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
If you would like to discuss any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact your Elpas account manager.
Yours Sincerely,
David Fensterheim

Turn Your Smartphone into a LF Meter
Coming Soon
Making LF Installations easier and faster, Elpas has tweaked our Shield BLE tag with special firmware that enables technicians to locate LF beacons and sources of LF noise.
The modified tag senses 125KHz signals. If the signal is from a valid Elpas beacon, the tag relays the signal density via a BLE message to Elpas' new LF Meter app for Android. In the event that the no valid LFID is detected, then the tag sends the noise density to the app. This information is displayed in a clear bar chart on the app's interface. When a valid ID is received, then the ID is labeled on the bar.
Multiple tags may be attached to a wooden or plastic poll to measure the field density at varying distances from the floor. These tags may be paired with the LF Meter app and each will be represented on the graph as a separate bar. Technicians can pair up to five modified Shield BLE tags to one smartphone.
The new meter can be used for:
- Determining the range of an Elpas LF Beacon
- Identifying penetration of and LF signal through floors, ceilings and walls.
- Finding sources of LF noise that can greatly reduce an Elpas tag's detection range of an Elpas LF beacon
Quickly scan for LF signals
Elpas sees the combination of the tag and app as way to save you time in optimizing an Elpas installation.
The modified Shield BLE will be made available to Elpas Partners upon request. The app will be available for free from the Google Play Store.
Release scheduled for the end of January 2018.
This product replaces the older LF Field Meter (5-LFM00125).

Extended Range Shield BLE Released
Elpas is pleased to announce that we have significantly increased the BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) range of the Elpas Shield by at least 50%. The outdoor BLE range between the Elpas Shield and smartphone is now 130ft/39m. This means that an apartment can be covered by a stationary smartphone or tablet much like a traditional Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) stationary unit. When out and about, duress alarms are processed by a pocketed smartphone even while the screen is off.
Advantages of Elpas Aging in Place solution:
- The Elpas LoneProtect application reports directly to the staff of an LTC facility via an on-premises Eiris Server, eliminating the need of a subscription based service.
- Indoor location may be reported using Elpas LF beacons. A standard tablet or smartphone may be mounted in each room for video or voice link with the responder.
- The Elpas Shield replaceable battery lasts over a year.
- No additional SIM card is needed. The Elpas LoneProtect app runs on popular Android smartphones.
- Alarms are triggered simply by pressing the button on the Elpas Shield. The phone can stay in your pocket or purse.
Our Solution - the Elpas Shield BLE
What is the Elpas Shield?
The Elpas Shield is a transmitter used by senior residents or staff members (that may be subject to attack) to signal an alert in the event of an emergency or to call for assistance. This solution allows seniors to "Age in Place," i.e., live out their lives at home and be continuously monitored without needing to move into an Assisted Living or Skilled Care Facility.
How is the Elpas Shield used?
The Elpas Shield is used in the home (with a stationary phone or tablet) or on the road with a standard Android phone. The Elpas Shield activates an alert by pushing a Bluetooth Low Energy signal to a phone even if it is in sleep mode and even if it is hidden in a purse or pocket. When the user enters a facility equiped with Elpas RF readers, alerts are sent via the facilities built-in RTLS Elpas and Eirs system network. The Elpas Shield can run for over a year between battery changes, uses the senior's existing phone, and requires no additional phone subscription. In addition, with the Eiris Server, a facility or enterprise may manage their own internal ARC without the cost of, or dependency on, a 3rd party response company.
How are alerts managed?
- When an event is initiated by the senior, a responder can open a voice or video link on EirisGo with the senior using the mic and camera on a home mobile device.
- Staff members are notified should activity indicators deviate from a pre-defined norm or running average.
- When responders arrive at the senior's home they may use their EirisGo app to escalate the situation or receive alerts regarding other residents.
Elpas Shield Highlights:
- Communicates with either a fixed Elpas network or with Android smartphones using Bluetooth Low Energy
- Prevents false alarms via a double button press
- Relays indoor location when Elpas low frequency beacons are detected
- Transmits infrared for explicit room location when combined with Elpas readers (not available with Bluetooth option)
- Detects automatically Man Down and prevents false alarms with a 15 second audible warning
- Alerts on button or pull cord
- Worn on belt or lanyard
- Supervised remotely 24/7
- Replaceable long lasting battery

Introducing the Elpas LoneProtect App
A Ground-Breaking App for Senior Care and Lone Workers: Available on Google Play for Android Devices
Introducing the new Elpas LoneProtect app for Senior and Lone Worker Care Solutions. With over 20 years of experience in providing indoor safety and security, Elpas is now expanding their Real Time Location technology outdoors and into the home.
For Senior Living Community Outreach
Senior Care Facilities: Senior care facilities with RTLS solutions ensure their residents safety while they're inside. However, once a resident steps outside the building there's little that staff members can do to know if someone needs help. How can residents be assured the same level of protection while outside that they enjoy while inside? What about seniors who simply want to to go outside for a little fresh air and suddenly need help or fall and there's nobody there to help?
The Elpas LoneProtect app has made it possible for care facilities to enable residents to travel beyond the walls of the facility and still be monitored by the same Elpas enterprise security platform. Seniors can now travel to visit family and friends, make doctor appointments, shop or go for a walk and still get help at the push of a tag button. Eiris alarms may be triggered directly on the app or using a paired Elpas Shield (Bluetooth Low Energy) BLE pendant while an Android phone is kept in a pocket or purse. Alerts are pushed by the BLE signal to the user's phone (even if the phone is in sleep mode). Elpas LoneProtect app receives duress button press, fall and location change events from the Elpas Shield BLE and relays them to the Eiris server, through the Elpas Cloud. Alert information may also be sent to a caregiver's phone by SMS.
Aging in Place: The Elpas LoneProtect app is fully integrated with Elpas' Eiris Alarm Management and Tracking software. This combination is a complete on-premises response management system relieving management from dependence on a 3rd party PERS service. The app allows facility staff to reach out to the community and monitor seniors that choose to remain in their homes. The app reports to the facility from anywhere when a senior needs help. Seniors can use the app on its own or use the Elpas Shield BLE tag to trigger duress calls (via pull cord, button press or automatic fall detection). Alarms are intelligently dispatched to responders by Eiris alarm management rules. Staff members may handle the events from anywhere via the Eiris Go application and immediately call the senior's phone via voice or video with a single tap on the app. Notifications contain the GPS location of the senior and room location may also be included when used with Elpas Location Beacons.
For Lone Workers: Elpas LoneProtect and the Shield BLE tag is a perfect duress signaling solution for lone workers. Many lone workers in high-risk jobs need to travel between campuses, plants or prisons. The tag is designed as intrinsically safe and therefore may be used in hazardous environments. The tag sends duress and fall events to a central Eiris server via the Elpas LoneProtect app and is ideal for security officers that operate in high risk workplaces. Duress events may be transmitted from anywhere with cellular coverage but does not require an additional cellular subscription since it leverages the officers existing smartphone. Responders may contact the worker via voice or video with a single tap on the app. GeoFences may be used to notify staff when the worker enters into, or deviates from, a pre-defined perimeter.
RFID Journal Highlights Elpas LoneProtect App - read about below:
Additional Elpas LoneProtect App Details:
GeoFences
Eiris response to alarms may be programmed based on GeoFences so that specific staff may be notified based on geographic location of the senior/worker. Alarms may also be defined in Eiris when a senior or worker deviates from, or enters into, a Geofence.
Supervision
The Elpas LoneProtect app stays in constant communication with the back end Eiris server so that an alert may be raised if, for any reason, communication is lost.
Managing Alerts with Eiris Go
When an event is initiated by the app user, a responder can open a voice or video link on Eiris Go with the senior using the mic and camera on a home or mobile device.
When responder arrives at the senior's home they may use their Eiris Go app to escalate the situation or receive alerts regarding other residents.
SMS to Family Members
Elpas LoneProtect may be programmed to send an SMS to a designated number in the event of an alarm. The SMS contains a link to disp
